Physical Therapist Acute Care

Job Summary:


The Therapy/Rehabilitation Physical Therapist in an Acute Care Hospital setting provides specialized care to patients, including stroke and orthopedic cases, focusing on rehabilitation and recovery. The role involves managing a daily caseload of approximately 10 patients, delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. The therapist must maintain required certifications and licenses, work designated shifts including weekends, and adhere to facility scheduling and reporting policies.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and treat acute care patients, particularly stroke-certified and orthopedic cases.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to promote patient recovery and functional independence.
• Manage a daily caseload of about 10 patients, ensuring timely and effective therapy delivery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic charting system.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards during patient care.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain current certifications.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• State Physical Therapist license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of Physical Therapy experience, preferably in acute care settings.
• Strong clinical skills in stroke rehabilitation and orthopedic therapy.
• Ability to manage a heavy caseload efficiently.
• Proficient in electronic medical records, specifically Epic.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Stroke certification or specialized training in neurological rehabilitation.
• Experience with acute care hospital environments.
• Comfort with block scheduling as per manager discretion.

Special Considerations:

• Must include Return to Office (RTO) status at time of submission.
• Minimum of 2 weekend shifts per month required.
• Facility allows one call-off per two-week pay period.
• Radius for travel is limited to 50 miles.
• Free parking available; specific scrub colors designated for staff roles.

Scheduling:

• 10-hour day shifts.
• Two weekend shifts per month are mandatory.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion.
• Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.
