Mobile Facilities Engineer This role provides hands‑on maintenance and repair support for commercial and industrial facilities across multiple locations. The Mobile Facilities Engineer troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains building systems and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. You help minimize downtime, respond to service requests, and deliver a high standard of customer service while working independently in the field. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, refrigeration units, compressors, motors, pumps, lighting, and life safety systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement timely, effective repair solutions. Complete general building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, minor plumbing repairs, and grounds upkeep, including snow removal when required. Conduct daily facility walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs, equipment issues, and potential safety hazards. Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS) to receive, track, and close work orders, document repairs, and maintain accurate equipment history. Ensure all preventive and corrective maintenance work orders are completed accurately, thoroughly, and within service level expectations. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition to support efficient and safe operations. Follow OSHA, state, and local codes as well as company safety policies and procedures in all work activities. Communicate repair status, findings, and recommendations clearly and professionally to supervisors, internal stakeholders, and clients. Coordinate with vendors and contractors to support specialized repairs, projects, or inspections when needed. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current on building systems, safety practices, and emerging technologies. Provide on‑call support during nights, weekends, and holidays as required to respond to emergency maintenance needs. Drive and care for the assigned company vehicle and equipment while traveling between facilities and job sites. Essential Skills Demonstrated experience in HVAC maintenance and repair in commercial or industrial facilities. Practical plumbing systems expertise, including troubleshooting and repairing common issues. Working knowledge of electrical systems, including basic diagnostics and repairs. EPA certification for handling refrigerants. Strong preventive maintenance skills across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems. Hands‑on building and facilities maintenance experience, including boilers, compressors, motors, pumps, and lighting systems. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and building automation issues. General working knowledge across multiple trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance. Experience using CMMS or Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS) to manage work orders and equipment records. Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and mobile work order platforms. Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with teams and clients. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Effective communication and customer service skills when interacting with clients and internal stakeholders. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and applicable regulations. 3–5 years of facility maintenance or related experience in a commercial or industrial environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience performing general carpentry, painting, and basic building repairs. Background in building automation systems and building controls. Familiarity with life safety systems and related maintenance requirements. Experience with grounds upkeep, including snow removal where applicable. Comfort working with mobile devices such as tablets for work order management and documentation. Strong problem‑solving mindset with the ability to prioritize and respond effectively to urgent issues. Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development. Valid driver’s license suitable for operating a company vehicle. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a mobile field role supporting multiple commercial and industrial facilities. You primarily work on‑site at client locations, traveling between properties in a company‑provided vehicle. The company supplies a vehicle, fuel card, purchasing card, tablet, and company computer to perform daily tasks and manage work orders. Typical work hours are either 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the expectation that you will be available for on‑call duty during nights, weekends, and holidays to respond to emergencies. The work involves indoor and outdoor environments, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and grounds areas, and requires adherence to safety procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and maintaining a professional appearance in the field.
