Role Overview
This position is responsible for setting up and optimizing manufacturing processes for portable electronic instrumentation and related assemblies. The engineer will support production, service, and repair operations by developing tooling, documentation, and software loading/installation procedures.

Key Responsibilities
• Configure and launch new manufacturing lines for electronics and portable instrumentation products.
• Design, specify, and implement tools and fixtures to support assembly and test processes.
• Install and validate software on target hardware during production.
• Apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
• Develop service instructions for internal service, repair, and rental teams.
• Collaborate with design, test, quality, and applications/software teams to ensure manufacturability and serviceability.
• Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions and operating methods.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field).
• 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in electronics assembly or with portable electronic instrumentation.
• Working knowledge of DFMA principles.
• Experience with tooling and fixture design.
• Ability to produce clear service documentation and maintenance procedures.
• Experience defining manufacturing strategies, plans, and production readiness activities.
Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with embedded software installation or device software loading.
• Familiarity with manufacturing validation processes.
• Understanding of IPC standards for electronics manufacturing.
• Experience with PDM systems (e.g., Windchill) and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle).
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including takt time, kaizen, value stream mapping, 5S, and visual daily management.
• Familiarity with Stage-Gate development processes and cross-functional reviews.
