About the role

We're looking for a dedicated Senior Software Engineer to lead and own the systems behind our products, including our web platform, cloud infrastructure, and overall software architecture.

This is a high-ownership, hands-on role with real breadth. You'll be the technical owner of our web codebase, the architect of how we deploy and run in the cloud, and the engineer we turn to for the hard application-layer problems - state management, data persistence, multi-user systems, and clean architecture. You'll also join the team lead in driving AI-assisted development across the team. If you like being the person who can go deep anywhere in the stack and bring order to systems other people find intimidating, you'll fit well here.

What you'll do

• Own our web platform end-to-end. Take technical ownership of the web codebase, set its technical direction, review and elevate the quality of the work that goes into it, and raise the engineering bar as the platform matures.
• Architect and deploy our cloud infrastructure. Design, stand up, and own the cloud environment for our web services. Make deliberate, well-reasoned infrastructure decisions around reliability, security, and cost - and document them so others can follow.
• Build the backend and application architecture behind our products. Architect and build robust, well-designed systems and apply sound engineering patterns to complex application-layer problems across the stack. The scope is broad and evolving, spanning areas such as data handling, application state, and multi-user functionality.
• Set the standard for AI-assisted development. Use modern agentic coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, or similar) to build quickly and with high quality, and serve as a hands-on reference for teammates who are adopting these tools for the first time.

What we're looking for

• Significant experience as a senior software engineer, with a track record of owning systems - not just features - end to end.
• Strong full-stack web development skills, and the judgment to lead and review work produced by others.
• Demonstrated experience designing stateful, data-intensive applications, including versioned/backward-compatible file formats, persistence and autosave, multi-user or networked systems, and disciplined application architecture.
• Hands-on cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including provisioning, deploying, and operating real production workloads.
• Clear, structured technical communication. You can write the documentation a teammate relies on and the instructions a vendor follows.
• Comfort being a broad generalist and serving as a single point of ownership for web, cloud, and backend systems, with the maturity to manage that responsibility effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted or "agentic" coding workflows, and an interest in helping the team level up on them.
• Experience deploying or operating workloads in regulated environments, such as HIPAA, PHI handling, or similar compliance contexts. (If you haven't, we'll help you get there; the instinct for security and data handling matters more than the specific framework.)
• Familiarity with real-time or multi-client systems beyond standard web request/response.

• Base pay: $120K-$180K per year
