Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Test Engineer with a strong background in automotive hardware engineering, hardware design, and prototype testing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience testing automotive electronic components, validating power management and protection features, and performing laboratory measurements and debugging.

Key Responsibilities

• Test automotive hardware prototypes, including Power Management Integrated Circuits (PMICs), smart fuses, load switches, voltage/current/temperature sensing circuits, microcontrollers, memory, and automotive Ethernet interfaces.

• Verify and analyze overcurrent protection (OCP), undervoltage protection (UVP), overvoltage protection (OVP), current limiting, inrush current, short-circuit protection, and thermal protection features.

• Perform fault analysis, power sequencing and timing verification, and load profile testing.

• Conduct laboratory testing and measurements using power supplies, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), electronic loads, and other test equipment.

• Perform hardware debugging, flashing, troubleshooting, and validation using tools such as Lauterbach.

• Analyze test results, document findings, troubleshoot hardware issues, and support root-cause analysis.

• Collaborate with hardware design, embedded systems, validation, and automotive engineering teams to ensure product functionality and reliability.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in automotive hardware engineering.

• 5+ years of experience in hardware design and testing.

• Hands-on experience with automotive hardware prototype testing and validation.

• Strong understanding of PMICs, smart fuses, load switches, microcontrollers, memory, and voltage/current/temperature sensing.

• Experience validating hardware protection mechanisms, including OCP, UVP, OVP, current limiting, inrush current, short circuits, and thermal limits.

• Experience with power sequencing, timing analysis, fault analysis, and load profiles.

• Practical experience using laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, and electronic loads.

• Experience with hardware flashing and debugging tools such as Lauterbach.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automotive Ethernet communication and testing.

• Familiarity with Vector tools or Intrepid Control Systems tools.

• Experience working with automotive electronic control units (ECUs), embedded hardware, and automotive electronic systems.
