Location: Lincoln Education Center

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education (preferred, not required) or other fields relating to job goals.
• A strong understanding of and experience in school systems.
• Demonstrated proficiency in communication and collaboration skills.
• Bilingual/Biliterate – with demonstrated ability to interpret and translate Spanish-English, English-Spanish in a variety of settings.
• Competence using technology (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, and document management tools) to accurately track, manage, and report information.
• All USD383 employees must pass a background check.

Salary: $20.00-$23.00

Placement within this range is based on relevant qualifications, including prior experience, education, and applicable certifications (e.g., bachelor's degree, advanced certification, bilingual proficiency, etc.).

Hours Per Day:

• Elementary schools – 7:30am - 2:30pm
• High school – 8:00am - 3:10pm
• Early Learning centers – 8:40am - 3:40pm
• Middle schools – 8:40am - 3:50pm
• Times may vary depending on the building assignment.
• Flexible hours depending on availability.
• Average workday = 7.5 hours.

Terms of Employment:

• Positions available during the regular school year.
• New employees go through a 45-day introductory period as part of onboarding after which benefits will begin, and leave can be used.

Reports To: Executive Director, Teaching and Learning; District ESOL Coordinator

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

Job Goals:

• Engage with the diverse community of USD 383.
• Utilize a strength-based approach to empower school professionals in building effective communication with linguistically diverse families and school teams.
• Support and monitor district processes to ensure effective language access across the district.
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of flexibility in scheduling, organizational, and communication skills. May include evenings.
• Ability to work with confidential information.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with district staff to identify families that need language support in a language other than English.
• Proactively share and implement parent communication strategies and protocols districtwide.
• Serve as the main contact for interpreter / translation requests.
• Provide orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training for language interpreters.
• Assist with clerical tasks and timeclock
• Document and track trends in communication needs, efforts, and initiatives.
• Interpret at various formal and informal meetings across the district.
• Provide professional development of language support resources and etiquette when utilizing interpreters.
• Assist building staff in engaging families to become active participants in their child's education.
• Support district staff to connect USD383 families with valuable resources and programs.
• Performs other tasks and duties as appropriate or assigned.
