Welder/Fabricator – Large Diesel Fuel Tank Manufacturing Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Welder/Fabricator to join our manufacturing team specializing in the production of large diesel fuel tanks. This position is responsible for performing high-quality welding, fabrication, inspection, and pressure testing activities while ensuring all products meet customer specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with MIG welding on mild steel, blueprint reading, tank fabrication, and working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM (Overtime as needed)
Pay Range: $25.20 – $30.00 per hour
Essential Responsibilities Welding & Fabrication- Read and interpret American and European blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) callouts, and weld symbols to meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Perform welding using GMAW-P (Pulse MIG), GMAW-S (MIG), and GTAW (TIG) processes in accordance with weld process specifications.
- Primarily perform MIG welding on mild steel diesel fuel tanks and related components.
- Utilize TIG welding for grind repairs and weld touch-ups as needed.
- Fabricate, assemble, and weld large diesel fuel tanks, weldments, and metal components.
- Perform hand layouts of weldments with minimal supervision.
- Use fixtures, gauges, jigs, and measuring devices to manufacture parts to customer specifications.
- Maintain high-quality workmanship while meeting production schedules.
- Work comfortably in various positions, including kneeling while building tank walls and outer frames.
- Complete first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using calipers, height gauges, protractors, tape measures, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Verify dimensional accuracy and weld quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Perform pressure testing on completed fuel tanks and hydrostatic testing on glycol tanks.
- Ensure all finished products meet customer, quality, and safety requirements.
- Assist in developing and improving work instructions and manufacturing processes.
- Analyze welding procedures and recommend process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Travel between company facilities as needed and adapt to varying production requirements and product mixes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the welding and fabrication department.
Understand customer expectations, identify potential issues from the customer's perspective, and provide practical solutions that support product quality and satisfaction.

Qualifications Required- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of experience performing GMAW-P, GMAW-S, and GTAW welding in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience welding mild steel components and assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret American and European blueprints, weld symbols, and geometric callouts.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Experience performing pressure testing and hydrostatic testing procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to kneel, bend, lift, and work in physically demanding positions throughout the shift.
- Previous experience in a job shop or custom fabrication environment.
- Experience manufacturing large diesel fuel tanks or similar heavy fabricated products.
- Strong blueprint reading and fabrication layout skills.
- Experience working with carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
