Palliative Care Physician

PALLIATIVE MEDICINE PHYSICIAN (3-309-1312)

The University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking an academic palliative medicine physician for our expanding program. Clinical duties will include inpatient activities and the development of an outpatient program. Protected time for teaching and research is offered. Division Overview The Division of Gerontology, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine resides in the Department of Medicine and is comprised of a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, chaplain, social worker, program support and a business administrator. Team members serve as expert palliative consultants to UMMC’s multi‑disciplinary service teams, providing support to patients and families. Responsibilities Provide inpatient palliative medicine consults across the hospital. Develop and lead an outpatient palliative medicine program. Participate in teaching and mentoring residents and fellows. Engage in research and quality improvement projects related to palliative care. Collaborate with medical and surgical intensive care units, shock trauma centers, and other hospital leadership to integrate palliative care into patient management. Qualifications Medical degree from an accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent). Active medical license in the State of Maryland. Board certification or eligibility in Palliative Medicine. Strong foundation in internal medicine, teaching, research or quality improvement experience preferred. Rank expected to be Assistant Professor or higher, with rank, tenure status and salary commensurate with qualifications. Benefits Competitive salary range for Assistant Professors: $191,542 to $267,823 (base pay, with additional compensation possible).
