Child Protection Specialist - Spanish Speaking The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services seeks a bilingual professional to investigate reports of alleged child abuse/neglect within mandated time limits. The role requires assessing immediate safety, initiating appropriate child protection responses, and coordinating services to families and youth. Essential Functions Serve as a Child Protection Specialist. Prepare and maintain reports, assessments, and case documentation. Select, summarize, and present case material for transfer to permanency or prevention workers. Translate and interpret for Spanish-speaking clients regarding services and forms completion. Determine the need for and coordinate placement of children in substitute care facilities. Attend multidisciplinary conferences to assess needed services. Transport clients when taking protective custody or changing placement locations. Perform other duties as required within the scope of duties listed above. Minimum Qualifications Preferably a master's degree in social work; or a master's degree in related human service field, criminal justice, or law enforcement with the indicated experience; or a bachelor’s degree in social work with related experience; or a bachelor’s degree in a related field with related experience. Ability to speak and write Spanish at a colloquial level. Conditions of Employment Ability to travel with overnight stays as required; valid driver’s license, reliable automobile, and proof of insurance. Background check and disclosure of criminal history required. Physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform duties; overtime may be required, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.
