Banquets Manager

Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel is a 29‑story hotel located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, directly connected to the Broward County Convention Center. The property offers 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. It provides over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms, and pre‑function meeting space with waterfront views. JOB PURPOSE To ensure proper servicing of all Banquet Functions, including the setup of meeting and banquet facilities, by communicating effectively with supervisors and associates and handling guest requests on the floor. To support administrative functions of the Banquet Department. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responsible for the daily supervision and direction of the Banquet team. Ensure that Four Diamond standards and a consistent level of guest satisfaction are met. Set priorities for all Banquet server associates; review daily worksheets and assign specific duties to each Banquet Server. Inspect each function room prior to the event to ensure that both the client’s needs are fulfilled and the hotel standards are met. Ensure appropriate execution of all banquet functions, overseeing all functions flow smoothly and trouble‑free. Maintain the cleanliness of the department (back hallway, meeting rooms and pre‑function space). Initiate and maintain contact with each in‑house meeting planner to ensure that all last‑minute requests and changes are provided. Meet with Banquets daily to ensure that dress and personal hygiene requirements are met in accordance with department standards. Communicate all hotel, guest, and group information to Banquet associates on a daily basis. Inspect each function room during breaks to ensure that all requirements reflected on the daily worksheets are met. Ensure that cleanliness and order of all storage areas are maintained. Ensure proper use and storage of all Convention Services equipment and establish preventative maintenance schedules for same equipment. Introduce oneself to the meeting/convention planner as the primary contact while the group is in‑house. Handle and delegate last‑minute requests. Communicate changes and pertinent information to appropriate departments, including Convention Services, Culinary and Stewarding. Communicate effectively with other Banquet Managers, Captains, and Supervisors, passing along pertinent information in a timely manner. Initiate appropriate disciplinary action for servers who have committed infractions of the Rules of Conduct as stated in the Omni Hotels Associate Handbook. Conduct monthly banquet server meetings. Assist with the creation of schedules and monitoring of Humanity. Assist with payroll and other procedures/requests required by Finance. Assist with associate tracking and reporting, ensuring all hotel deadlines are met. Interview and select new Banquet server associates. On‑board and continuously train Banquet server associates effectively. Effectively coach, counsel and discipline associates as needed. Complete and issue performance evaluations, and provide ongoing coaching to Banquet server associates. Attend pertinent hotel and department meetings. Maintain a highly motivated and trained staff that continually strives for personalized, quality service and the creation of memorable guest experiences. Support a positive work environment of employee growth and development, interdepartmental teamwork, and exceptional customer service. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost‑savings. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of two years of Food & Beverage supervisory experience, preferably in the hospitality industry or participation in the Omni LID program. Proven leadership skills with the ability to delegate, effectively train, develop, and motivate staff. Ability to teach employees the importance of and how to interact with internal/external guests and courteously solve internal requests. Ability to set priorities for the Banquet serving team and provide feedback that enhances performance. Prior experience managing schedules, payroll, service recovery and associate relations matters. Service‑oriented, detail‑focused, with a friendly and approachable demeanor and strong problem‑solving skills. Ability to work cohesively with co‑workers both within and outside the department. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi‑task and provide guest follow‑up in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor. Clear and pleasant communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in English with guests, management, and co‑workers. Computer proficiency; developed Excel skills. Ability to compute accurate mathematical calculations. Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays. ENVIRONMENT & POSITION ANALYSIS Lift, carry, and place objects weighing up to 30 lbs.; push/pull objects weighing up to 75 lbs. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
