For more information, visit Position Overview: SunVest’s Accounting & Finance team is responsible for preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP to support accurate reporting of company performance. The Senior Accountant, based in our Chicago headquarters, will report directly to the Controller and work closely with cross-functional teams to oversee general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, revenue recognition, tax compliance, and audit support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and organized, with strong knowledge of GAAP, and project-based accounting. This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, improve accounting processes, and collaborate effectively across departments. Responsibilities: Prepare and review general ledger entries, including project capitalization, operating expenses, AP/AR, and billing. Complete timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with GAAP. Manage and maintain accounting for long-term contracts and revenue recognition methodologies in accordance with ASC 606 and applicable accounting standards. Work closely with operations and project finance teams to ensure appropriate accounting throughout the full project lifecycle. Assist in the preparation of intercompany eliminations and consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities. Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement. Assist with external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation. Assist with tax filings, compliance reporting, and other finance-related projects as assigned. Required Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with strong academic performance highly valued CPA certification is strongly preferred Minimum of three (3) years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with exposure to both financial and tax reporting Background in construction, solar, manufacturing, engineering, EPC, or project-based industries preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP systems such as NetSuite is preferred Strong organizational skills, problem solving and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments SunVest is an equal opportunity employer. The salary range for this role reflects the broad array of factors considered in making compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $90k-$110k. At SunVest, it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, as compensation decisions are tailored to the specifics of each case.
