Civil Engineering Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The role will involve managing projects from initial planning and design through to construction, completion and handover, ensuring that work is delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. You will coordinate internal teams, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders, while maintaining clear communication throughout each stage of the project lifecycle.


Key responsibilities will include preparing and monitoring project programmes, budgets, forecasts and risk registers; overseeing procurement and contractor performance; reviewing designs, specifications, method statements and technical submissions; and ensuring that all works comply with relevant legislation, standards, planning conditions and quality requirements. You will lead progress meetings, provide accurate reports to senior stakeholders, manage variations and commercial matters, and proactively identify and resolve technical, operational and delivery issues. A strong commitment to health and safety is essential, including the promotion of safe working practices and effective collaboration with site-based teams.


Applicants should have substantial experience managing civil engineering projects, ideally within infrastructure, highways, utilities, groundworks or related sectors. You will hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, construction or project management, together with a recognised project management qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, risk management, cost control and quality assurance is required. You should be commercially aware, highly organised and confident interpreting technical information, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to manage competing priorities, influence stakeholders and lead multidisciplinary teams will be central to your success. A relevant professional membership and a valid driving licence may be advantageous.
