Staff Tax Accountant

JOB SUMMARYAs a Tax Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of business and individual tax returns, with the benefit of gaining exposure to a diverse client base operating in a variety of industries. The Tax Staff Accountant will have the opportunity to collaborate with and assist internal teams and leaders to produce high-quality deliverables to our clients, while building upon the technical skills to grow as a professional.JOB DESCRIPTIONTax PreparationAssist in preparing federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entitiesOrganize and review client-provided financial information, ensuring accuracy and completenessUse tax software and tools to input data, calculate tax liabilities, deductions, and creditsResearch and AnalysisConduct tax research to interpret and apply relevant tax laws, regulations, and guidelinesAnalyze financial statements, records, and documentation to identify tax-saving opportunities and compliance issuesAssist in preparing tax projections and estimates to guide clients in making informed financial decisionsClient CommunicationCommunicate with clients to gather necessary information and address inquiries related to tax mattersAssist in explaining tax concepts and implications to clients in a clear and understandable mannerCollaborate with internal team to provide timely updates and recommendations to clients on their tax situationsCompliance and DocumentationEnsure adherence to tax regulations and deadlines, filing tax returns accurately and timelyMaintain organized and comprehensive tax files and documentation for each client engagementAssist in tracking changes in tax laws and regulations and their potential impact on clientsTeam CollaborationCollaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practicesSupport senior team members in complex tax projects, including audits and specialized tax servicesParticipate in internal training sessions to enhance your technical skills and stay updated on industry trendsSupervisory responsibilitiesNoneWork environmentWork is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractionsPhysical demandsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of timeMust be able to lift to 15 pounds at a timeTravel requiredTravel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client’s requirementsRequired education and experienceBachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting, or a Master’s degree in accounting or taxationActively pursuing the required education and credits to qualify for the CPA exam, with the intention of obtaining CPA licensurePreferred education and experienceCumulative GPA 3.0 or higherActively working towards achieving CPA or Enrolled Agent licensure or relevant certification, if not already attainedResponsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirementSoftware: CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax ResearchOther dutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the colleague for this job.
