Associate Director, Foundation Relations

The Associate Director, Foundation Relations is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and management of a portfolio of prospects and donors and the closing of $2+ million annually in gifts and grants. This position works closely with the Senior Director, Foundation Relations; program leaders and staff; researchers; and teams across the Division of Philanthropy to coordinate prospect management activity and manage overall foundation fundraising efforts for assigned areas.

Specifically, for assigned areas, the position identifies funding opportunities and pairs them with eligible applicants; submits proposals and reports; organizes and facilitates foundation donor visits and drafts subsequent call reports; reports progress on goals to supervisor and Foundation Relations leadership; represents Dana-Farber at off-site presentations and meetings; and travels as appropriate to meet with prospects/donors. Responsible for assisting the entire Division of Philanthropy with reaching financial goals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Personal Solicitation: May personally solicit a set number of prospects to raise incremental revenue for Dana-Farber. Identify and research prospects, solicit prospects for increased commitments, qualify and steward prospects, and prepare and submit proposals while tracking results.

• Reporting: Report progress on goals and responsibilities to the department; produce analysis of personal solicitation effectiveness. Coordinate with Information Systems staff for reporting and prospect tracking. Generate Call Reports.

• Programmatic: Assist with implementation of comprehensive prospect management plan.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills.

• Organization: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Solid organizational, project management, and multi-tasking abilities skills, with an aptitude for prioritizing tasks. Strong attention to detail. Effective and efficient time-management abilities. Strong ability to be resourceful and self-initiate tasks.

• Judgement: Exceptional ability to exercise judgement, maintain confidentiality, and act with discretion when working with a variety of stakeholders.

• Data Analysis: Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can be used for decision-making. 

• Computer Literacy: Strong knowledge of development databases, and Microsoft Office applications, with excellent Excel skills.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. 6+ years of relevant work experience.

This position's work location is fully remote with occasional time on-campus in Brookline, MA. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI).
