Histotechnologist

Performs moderate and complex specimen procedures in the areas of anatomical/surgical pathology and immunohistochemistry. Oversees one or more technical work area, which includes oversight of key operators, regulatory compliance, new method project plans, technical communications, and cost-effective inventory control. Serves as a lead for training students and new employees, participates in system competency development, and assists in the direct observation of staff for the annual competency program. Functions as a liaison to system Technical Specialist and serves as Charge Tech in absence of Lead/Supervisor/Manager. CLIA Role: Testing Personnel Moderate complexity testing Testing Personnel High Complexity testing.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures.
• Accurate and timely processing of specimens.
• Maintains safety, education, and competency requirements.
• CLIA defined responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in histotechnology or related science from an accredited institution plus completion of clinical internship
• CLIA defined Qualifications: 493.1423 Standard; Testing personnel qualifications
• CLIA defined Qualifications: 493.1489 Standard; Testing personnel qualifications
• CLIA defined Qualifications: 493.1491 Technologist qualifications on or before February 28, 1992

Licenses/Certifications:

• Histotechnologist, HTL certification by a recognized agency such as ASCP or NCA within 180 Days required

Physical Demands:

• Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently

Pay Range:

$38.67 to $52.47 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
