Clinical Supervisor (LCSW/LMFT)
$85k - $90kSignal & Strand
About the Job This search is a little different for us. At Signal & Strand, we believe the best work we do is not always measured by revenue. While much of our work focuses on helping organizations build exceptional teams and leadership capabilities, we occasionally take on select searches on a pro bono basis for organizations whose missions we deeply believe in. This is one of those searches. We are partnered with a leading nonprofit organization serving women experiencing homelessness on the search for a Clinical Supervisor (LCSW/LMFT). Reporting to the Clinical Director, this individual will provide clinical leadership, supervision, and oversight across behavioral health programs, including a Trauma Recovery Center serving women navigating complex challenges related to trauma, mental health, substance use, and housing instability. This is an opportunity for a licensed clinician who is passionate about developing other clinicians, strengthening trauma-informed service delivery, and ensuring high-quality care for one of Los Angeles' most vulnerable populations. The Clinical Supervisor will oversee a team of four clinicians, with an additional opening planned, and will assume responsibility for both individual and group supervision immediately upon joining the organization. The Mandate This organization is seeking a leader who can balance empathy with accountability. The team is comprised of dedicated clinicians doing important work in a complex environment. What is needed now is a supervisor who can support, coach, and develop staff while also establishing clear expectations around documentation, performance, and clinical excellence. Documentation quality and timeliness are critical priorities for this team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable holding the line on standards, addressing gaps directly, and creating systems that help clinicians stay on track without sacrificing quality of care. This is not a role with a direct client caseload. Instead, the focus is on supervision, leadership, staff development, program oversight, and ensuring clinicians have the support and structure they need to be successful. Success in this role will require strong clinical judgment, experience managing performance and accountability, and the ability to develop clinicians into stronger practitioners and future leaders. The organization places a significant emphasis on promoting from within and investing in leadership development, creating meaningful opportunities for long-term growth and advancement. Key Responsibilities Provide individual and group clinical supervision to unlicensed clinicians working toward licensure Deliver ongoing clinical consultation, coaching, and support to clinicians across programs Review and approve clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards Support day-to-day operations of the Trauma Recovery Center and ensure grant compliance requirements are met Monitor documentation quality, timeliness, and overall clinical performance Provide guidance during crises and model effective de-escalation and intervention techniques Train, develop, and support a multidisciplinary team delivering trauma-informed services Lead onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives for clinical staff Analyze program data, identify trends and service gaps, and support quality improvement efforts Prepare reports and leverage data to inform operational and clinical decision-making Utilize systems including Excel and electronic health record platforms to monitor program performance and documentation compliance Attend funder meetings and support ongoing program compliance Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, service providers, and stakeholders Facilitate clinical meetings, group supervision sessions, and staff trainings Serve as an ambassador for the organization within the community Ideal Profile Active California LCSW or LMFT license in good standing Minimum two years of post-licensure experience Completion of a 15-hour Clinical Supervision training program Prior supervisory experience required Demonstrated experience holding staff accountable while maintaining a supportive and collaborative culture Strong crisis intervention experience Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, trauma, mental illness, and substance use disorders Familiarity with evidence-based practices including Trauma-Informed Care, CBT, DBT, Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, and Seeking Safety Strong report writing, documentation review, and data analysis capabilities Experience identifying operational gaps and implementing process improvements Proficiency with Excel and electronic health record systems; experience with Exym is a plus Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of care and documentation Cultural humility and experience serving diverse populations, including communities disproportionately impacted by homelessness Spanish language proficiency is a plus Location & Work Model Los Angeles, California Hybrid schedule with three days per week onsite and two days remote. Candidates must reside in California and live within 80 miles of the organization's office.
