Senior Vice President of Community Association Management

RowCal Property Management 

Work Arrangement and Location: This is a hybrid leadership position with travel of up to 50%. Plymouth, Minnesota is the preferred location. Candidates may also be based near a RowCal office in Illinois, Austin, Texas, or Colorado, with preference given in that order. Candidates based outside Minnesota should expect significant time in Minnesota during the first six months to build relationships and become integrated with the executive team. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

Position Summary 

RowCal is scaling a nationally consistent, high-performing community management operating model. We are hiring a Senior Vice President of Community Management to build the operational engine that will support RowCal’s next stage of growth.

This executive will shape how community management is run across the enterprise, leading approximately 12 Directors of Community Management and partnering with senior leadership across growth, operations, customer experience, technology, and talent.

The right person is a builder-operator who has led multi-market community management or comparable distributed-service operations at meaningful scale. You have built systems and playbooks that survived leadership handoffs, know when to standardize and when to allow for local market differences, and create accountability without limiting capable leaders.

Compensation, Benefits and Support

Base Salary: $180,000-$225,000, based on experience and scope alignment

Bonus Opportunity: Retention-based bonus tied to Community Association Manager and client retention

Core Responsibilities 1. Operational Leadership

• Own community association management operations across all RowCal markets.
• Define and continuously improve the enterprise service-delivery model, including portfolio sizing, staffing ratios, response standards, board cadence, and meeting expectations.
• Lead, coach, and hold accountable approximately 12 Directors of Community Management across multiple markets.
• Establish clear operating standards and decision rights while preserving flexibility for genuine local market differences.
• Own the enterprise approach to how CAMs are hired, onboarded, deployed, measured, and supported.
• Bring a practical field-operations perspective to technology and process decisions, challenging solutions that create unnecessary friction.

2. Performance Management

• Own the operating KPIs for community management, including productivity, labor efficiency, CAM and community retention, board satisfaction, and escalation management.
• Build standardized scorecards, dashboards, and operating reviews that give leaders a clear view of performance and required action.
• Lead monthly business reviews with Directors of Community Management and hold regional leaders accountable for measurable results.
• Use performance data to identify trends, establish priorities, and drive timely corrective action.
• Improve portfolio economics and unit-level margin through thoughtful staffing, productivity, and process decisions.

3. Board Relations and Customer Escalations

• Serve as the executive escalation point for critical customer, board, and association issues, including matters that cross regional lines.
• Partner with Directors of Community Management and Branch Presidents to resolve complex service-delivery and retention concerns.
• Personally engage with Board Presidents and board members when an association presents significant service, retention, or reputational risk.
• Coach Directors through difficult board meetings, contentious community issues, and at-risk client situations.
• Lead corrective action plans and use patterns in board feedback, NPS, retention data, and escalations to drive operational improvements.

4. Training and Development

• Partner with the People team to strengthen CAM onboarding, certification programs, continuing education, and professional development.
• Define and support a leadership-development path from CAM through Director-level roles.
• Build a coaching culture centered on clear expectations, measurable performance, and consistent accountability.
• Establish the standards Directors of Community Management are expected to coach and manage against.
• Own field training and adoption for Salesforce, CINC, and other community management platforms.
• Strengthen leadership capability to support retention, succession planning, and continued growth.

5. Strategic Leadership

• Partner with RowCal’s senior leadership team to align community management operations with the company’s growth strategy.
• Build unified procedures, playbooks, and operating rhythms that remain effective across leadership transitions and market growth.
• Create a scalable operating model that supports organic growth, acquisitions, and new-market launches without sacrificing service quality.
• Evaluate organizational structure, leadership capacity, and workforce needs as RowCal grows.
• Balance enterprise consistency with appropriate local decision-making while moving initiatives forward in an environment with changing priorities.
• Define meaningful goals and build the operating discipline needed to achieve measurable, sustainable results.
  

Required Qualifications

• At least 7 years of community association management experience, including previous experience as a Community Association Manager and experience leading operations across multiple teams or markets.
• CMCA and AMS designations.
• Experience building and implementing operating procedures, playbooks, KPI frameworks, and performance rhythms across multiple teams or markets.
• Strong financial and operational judgment, including experience with unit economics, labor efficiency, productivity targets, and operating budgets.
• Demonstrated success leading and developing senior operations leaders while holding teams accountable for measurable results.
• Executive presence and credibility when navigating complex board relationships, customer escalations, and cross-functional decisions, with leadership aligned with RowCal’s values of trust, innovation, fun, and growth.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant executive experience.
• Ability to work for prolonged periods at a desk and on a computer.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
• PCAM designation or willingness to obtain it.
• Experience scaling a private-equity-backed or growth-stage operations function.
• Experience integrating acquisitions and launching new markets.
• Experience with Salesforce, CINC Systems, Power BI, and modern community management platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and modern collaboration tools.

During the first 12 to 18 months, the successful leader will have:

• Established a shared community management operating model with clear standards, decision rights, and room for appropriate local variation.
• Implemented trusted scorecards and business-review rhythms that leaders actively use to manage performance.
• Produced measurable improvement in community retention, CAM retention, board satisfaction, productivity, and portfolio economics.
• Strengthened the Director team through clear accountability, consistent coaching standards, and leadership development.
• Created repeatable systems that allow RowCal to integrate acquisitions and launch new markets without sacrificing service quality.
