Software System Architect

Architect the technology behind secure, scalable payments.SegPay is looking for an experienced Software System Architect to help shape the architecture and continued evolution of our payment gateway and credit card processing platforms.This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who can see the big picture without stepping away from the code. You'll partner with Product, Business Analysts, and Engineering to translate complex business and financial requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.If you bring deep LAMP/PHP expertise, a strong background in payment processing, and the ability to lead technical direction while remaining hands-on, we want to hear from you.What You'll DoDesign, architect, and evolve our payment gateway and credit card transaction-processing platformsCreate secure and scalable solutions supporting credit card and ACH authorization, settlement, and reconciliationTranslate business, financial, and payment-processing requirements into technical designs and architectureProvide technical direction to developers on architecture, programming standards, and best practicesRemain hands-on with development, code reviews, testing, and troubleshootingMentor developers on architecture, design patterns, and secure coding practicesParticipate throughout the development lifecycle, including design, development, QA, production support, and releasesPartner with DevOps on CI/CD, deployment automation, monitoring, and production supportHelp ensure solutions meet security and compliance requirements, including PCI DSSSupport and enhance legacy gateway systemsThe role combines architecture, technical leadership, development, payment-processing expertise, and production responsibility.What We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience8+ years of professional software development experienceExperience in a Software Architect or technical lead roleStrong background in credit card processing and payment gateway systemsExperience with transaction processing, including credit card and ACH payment methodsProven experience architecting and building systems using the LAMP stack: Linux, Apache, MySQL/MariaDB, and PHPStrong hands-on PHP development experienceExperience with OOD/OOP, MVC frameworks, and common design patternsExperience with Agile development practices, Git, testing methodologies, BitBucket, and JiraExperience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD and automated deploymentAbility to provide technical leadership and direction to a development teamThe Kind of Architect Who Thrives HereYou're comfortable moving between strategy and execution.
