A Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples accurately and safely while ensuring patient comfort and proper specimen handling. This role typically operates independently, requiring strong attention to detail and adherence to compliance standards to maintain specimen integrity and patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples using proper techniques
- Verify patient identity prior to collection
- Label samples accurately and handle specimens correctly
- Interact professionally and compassionately with patients
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory protocols
- Maintain accurate records of collections and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Certification in Phlebotomy or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with venipuncture
- Knowledge of specimen processing
- Strong patient care skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Effective time management abilities
