This role includes assisting with ingredient preparation, monitoring inventory levels, caring for kitchen equipment, and help train new team members. The Cook ensures all tasks are completed in accordance with safety, sanitation, and food-handling policies and procedures while meeting St. Joe Hospitality standards.Primary Responsibilities & Essential FunctionsPrepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and supervisor instructionsSet up and break down assigned stations and ensure they are ready for serviceAssist with ingredient preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping as neededMaintain proper cooking temperatures, times, and techniques to ensure consistency and qualityTransfer ingredients and supplies to and from storage areas and coolers, ensuring proper storage, labeling, rotations, and inventory handling to prevent loss or wasteMaintain overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including but not limited to equipment, prep areas, utensils, workstations, and storagePerform routine and deep cleaning and sanitation tasks, and trash removal as requiredAssist with unloading, organizing, and storing food deliveriesMaintain St. Joe Hospitality standards for safety and sanitation while meeting or exceeding local, state, and federal health and safety regulationsMaintain a general knowledge of guest offerings to answer basic questions when neededReport equipment issues, safety hazards, or maintenance concerns immediatelyAttend scheduled meetings and trainings and contribute suggestions for improvementPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation and Experience - Ability to read product labels and communicate basic job-related informationBasic knowledge of kitchen operations and safe food handlingPrevious kitchen or culinary experience in a hotel, resort, or restaurantCulinary coursework or certificationServSafe certification (may be obtained after hire)Knowledge, Skills, Abilities - Ability to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work well as part of a team and follow directionsComfort using knives and kitchen equipment safelyStrong attention to detail and commitment to cleanlinessAbility to maintain professionalism and interact with guests in a friendly mannerAbility to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasksPhysical Demands - Ability to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to stand for the entire shiftFrequent walking, bending, lifting, and carryingAbility to carry trays of food or suppliesWorking Conditions - Indoor kitchen environmentExposure to heat, noise, and a fast-paced settingOccasional prolonged visual attentionThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not an exclusive list of all duties and responsibilities.
