American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU/Stepdown RN with strong vasoactive drip titration skills for a night shift position requiring NC or compact RN licensure.

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15). Every other weekend requirement. Floating required as needed to a sister ICCU unit. No block scheduling; schedule created by nurse manager. 36 or 48 hours per week available.

$1,843.25/week (estimated advertised weekly pay).

ICU stepdown unit with 20 beds and an ADC of 18. Patient ratio of 1:3-4. Patient population includes post rapid response team patients, respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, post-op surgical patients (GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomies, neuro, ortho), and pre/post OB with complications. Treats adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Drips managed include Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Neo. Bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup used. Unit uses A-lines, BIPAPs, chest tubes, and tracheostomies; no ventilators on unit. Uses Pyxis and Epic systems.

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required. Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required. Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required. Experience with arterial line management and titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips required. Experience with PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown and telemetry required. Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Experience with IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, and heparin protocols required. Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management experience required. Experience managing chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care required. Non-invasive airway management and isolation precautions/PPE experience required. IV start, telemetry, and conscious sedation experience required. Epic charting experience preferred. Must pass EKG testing prior to start.

Provide advanced ICU-level stepdown care including drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response team support. Participate in hospital orientation during the first week, with availability required for daily classes. Complete required pre-start modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles), with annual renewal. Scrubs must be navy, white, or a combination of both. Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays. RTO up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO allowed during first week of assignment. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate. Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying and disclose employment history for facility approval. Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission. 13-week minimum assignment length, with option for longer contracts.
