ABOUT THE ROLE:

To continue advancing the impact we have across the communities we serve, Commonpoint is hiring a Clinical Director, Adolescent Services & Internships situated within the Mental Health Division. The Mental Health Division plays a vital role in providing accessible, person-centered behavioral health services and supporting clients in improving their mental wellness. The individual hired as Clinical Director, Adolescent Services & Internships will provide individual psychotherapy to adolescent clients at the AD Clinic, coordinate and supervise social work interns assigned to the clinic, and support community outreach efforts designed to strengthen awareness of and connection to mental health services. The clinical director will work collaboratively with clinic leadership, staff, interns, community partners, and other Commonpoint programs to support high-quality clinical care and meaningful training experiences. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Mental Health Integration.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Services:

• Maintain an active caseload of adolescent/young adult clients at the MH Clinic and provide individual psychotherapy in accordance with client needs, treatment plans, agency expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Meet established productivity expectations by maintaining an appropriate caseload, scheduling sufficient clinical sessions, monitoring attendance and cancellations, and using available clinical hours effectively.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation necessary to support quality care, billing, compliance, and reimbursement.
• Participate in clinical consultation, case conferences, utilization review, and other quality-improvement activities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, Commonpoint programs, and community partners to strengthen referrals to adolescent mental health services.
• Participate in Mental Health Integration initiatives at the Jack Shirley Silver HUB (and/or other assigned locations).
• Represent Mental Health Services at community events, presentations, open houses, and outreach activities.
• Provide regular clinical supervision to social work interns in accordance with agency expectations, academic program requirements, and professional standards.
• Review intern documentation and support the development of clinical judgment, ethical practice, professional identity, and effective use of supervision.
• Communicate with school field-education representatives and complete required intern evaluations within established deadlines.

Performance & Organizational Excellence:

• Participate in the agency's performance management process by establishing annual goals, completing mid-year and end-of-year evaluations, and engaging in ongoing performance discussions with supervisors.
• Complete documentation, data entry, and required reports accurately and on time in accordance with agency standards, funder requirements, and established deadlines, including updates to agency systems, dashboards, and tracking tools.
• Complete required annual professional development activities to maintain and strengthen clinical knowledge, professional skills, and overall job performance.
• Use program and service data to improve performance by participating in data review and discussion during supervision, department meetings, reporting activities, and other quality improvement efforts, including surveys and feedback activities, as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
• Current New York State license as a mental health professional with ability to supervise interns.
• Clinical experience providing behavioral health services to adolescents and families.
• Experience supervising social work interns, trainees, or early-career clinicians.
• Ability to balance direct clinical service, supervision, outreach, and program development responsibilities.
• Strong proficiency with electronic health records, Google Workspace, and data management systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in a Commonpoint role is a plus.
• Bilingual Spanish is strongly preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Standing: Staff will be on their feet for extended periods (1-4 hours), especially during activities or supervision, fostering an active and engaging student environment.
• Walking and Movement: Frequent movement around the program space is essential to effectively supervise students, guide activities, and provide support during homework, ensuring a dynamic and
• interactive atmosphere.
• Lifting: Staff may need to lift materials (up to 20 pounds), such as books, supplies, or activity equipment. Occasionally, lifting heavier items (up to 50 pounds) may be necessary, though this is rare and can be managed with assistance.
• Minimal Travel: Staff may occasionally need to travel to different program locations within the local area, depending on departmental needs and Professional Development.
