We are looking for a Senior Product Designer with 5+ years of experience who thrives in ambiguity, ships fast, and is comfortable working directly in code bases alongside Figma. You'll own design end-to-end for core product areas at Loancrate - an AI-native Loan Origination System that is reimagining mortgage software for the first time in 20 years. This is a high-ownership role on a small, elite design team disrupting one of the sleepiest industries in financial services.

What will you be doing?

• Own entire feature areas end-to-end - from discovery and Figma design through prototyping in local dev environments, with designs moving from Figma to code the same day
• Design complex, data-dense UIs and multi-step automation workflows for AI-native mortgage tooling - including agentic flows, streaming content, and probabilistic outputs
• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and client-side users to gather requirements and validate concepts through rapid iteration
• Contribute to the migration to a new component system (ShadCN) and maintain scalable design system assets
• Participate in weekly design critiques and partner closely with engineering and product to ship features with real user impact

Key Requirements

• Startup or small-team experience shipping real products - pure Big Tech or pure agency backgrounds will not be considered
• Actively works in or alongside code (vibe coding, opening PRs, prototyping in local dev environments) - not just Figma-to-handoff
• Portfolio with detailed, real case studies showing complex SaaS workflows, data-dense UIs, and clear problem-to-outcome storytelling
• Deep Figma proficiency (components, variants, auto-layout, prototyping) with a bias toward shipping fast over pixel-perfection
• Must be based in the United States with ability to travel domestically to client sites; no visa sponsorship available

Seniority

5 - 10 years of experience in end- to- end product design for complex SaaS tools

Work experience

Startup or small- team experience shipping real products . Big Tech or large company OK only if also has startup experience. No pure Big Tech or pure agency backgrounds.

Designed complex, workflow- heavy SaaS products (not marketing pages, consumer apps, or brand work). Portfolio must show enterprise systems, data- dense UIs, or multi- step workflows.

Experience as founding/sole designer or design lead at an early- stage company (seed to Series C).

Fintech, lending, regulated industry, or document- heavy workflow experience.

Hard skills

Actively works in or alongside code - vibe coding, opening PRs, or prototyping in local dev environments. Not just Figma- to- handoff designers.

Deep Figma proficiency (components, variants, auto- layout, prototyping). Designs move from Figma to code same day.

Strong visual- design polish / UI craft - bonus if they've worked on products with high visual quality. Additive on top of end- to- end product design, not a substitute.

Experience designing AI- native UX - agentic flows, automation workflows, probabilistic outputs, or streaming content.

Soft skills

Genuine enthusiasm for AI/vibe- coding tooling - early adopter who's eager to work in the codebase, not resistant to AI- assisted workflows.

Miscellaneous

Must be based in the U. S. (domestic travel to client sites required). No visa sponsorship.

Portfolio must have real, detailed case studies - clear problem statements, process, shipped outcomes. Broken or empty portfolios are an instant pass. Ensure there are at least 2- 3 examples in the portfolio.

Traits to avoid

Pure agency, freelance, or contract- only background with no in- house product experience.

Portfolio is primarily consumer- facing (e- commerce, media, growth UX) with no B2B/SaaS work.

Frequent job- hopping (3+ roles under one year) or fully transitioned into management and no longer designing.

What to ask candidates

• Send a portfolio link (AND PROVIDE PASSWORD) that highlights two projects: 1. A complex workflow you simplified. 2. A system, feature, or component others now rely on. What changed and how you measured improvement?
• What does the portfolio examples consist of? consumer-facing (e-commerce, media, or growth UX), enterprise systems, data modeling, or AI workflow design?
• Where do you plan to work remotely from?
• What is your total comp target? Please include a breakdown of cash, equity, or other components if available.
• What is their salary expectation?
• How actively is this candidate exploring new opportunities?
