Staff Accountant

Location: Remote (Baltimore, MD or Chicago, IL Area)

Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000

A leading global law firm is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its Accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to support accounting operations in a sophisticated, international environment while collaborating closely with senior accounting leadership and cross-functional business teams.

This role is primarily remote, with occasional in-office attendance required (approximately once per month). Candidates must reside within commuting distance of either Baltimore, MD or Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily journal entries and maintain accurate financial records.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Review and analyze monthly financial statements and provide commentary to senior accounting leadership.
• Assist with year-end financial statement audits and other audit requirements.
• Support accounting operations for international entities.
• Assist with daily treasury and cash management activities.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Real Estate, and other business teams on firmwide initiatives.
• Participate in process improvement projects designed to increase efficiency and strengthen controls.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
• Public accounting, Big 4, or law firm accounting experience strongly preferred.
• CPA license or active pursuit of CPA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced professional services environment.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary of $80,000 - $90,000
