Position Summary

The Manufacturing Operator will work within the Manufacturing Group on a 12-hour shift and report directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor. The company utilizes Lean Manufacturing principles and tools, providing an opportunity to learn these processes and contribute to continuous improvement programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain production equipment.
• Follow specifications, job orders, work instructions, recipes, and procedures to produce products according to the ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
• Install fixtures, tooling, and other parts for production machine setup to manufacture products using a variety of materials according to work orders and specifications.
• Align and adjust machine settings and synchronize speeds across machine sections to deliver materials and construct products.
• Activate machinery and equipment, adjust set points to control machine functions, and monitor machine and product operations to detect and diagnose faulty operations. Report malfunctions to the supervisor or work leader.
• Operate equipment throughout all plant areas, performing tasks required to build products and prepare them for worldwide shipment.
• Keep machinery and equipment clean, replace worn parts, and perform preventive maintenance as required.
• Record product information on data sheets or in computer databases to complete work orders.
• Move materials to the work area and load them into machines for processing.
• Inspect products and set up and adjust manufacturing equipment.
• Inspect incoming materials and parts from the warehouse according to inspection procedures, as needed.
• Inspect materials, products, and equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Route product samples for quality control inspection according to established procedures.
• Monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure equipment operation conforms to production or process standards.
• Support the training or cross-training of operators who are new to the work area.

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed the company's safety and environmental standards.
• Complete training and follow all safety procedures for the operation and use of equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
• Actively contribute to safety improvement programs.
• Comply with all company policies, including safety, operating procedures, quality, attendance, and appropriate workplace conduct.

Qualifications and Competencies

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
• Strong hands-on mechanical ability and general knowledge of machines and tools.
• General knowledge of computer operation in an industrial environment.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage workloads with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Military technical training.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of materials, supplies, tools, fixtures, and equipment from floor level to elevated positions.
• Ability to reach and manipulate equipment controls.
• Ability to perform work activities above ground level.
• Ability to work with production chemicals, adhesives, and epoxies while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to occasionally perform outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment.
• Ability to perform job duties at any time of day based on plant operations.

Working Conditions

• The site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Most work cells are indoors, with some work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Most areas are climate-controlled.
• The majority of the operator's work is performed while standing.
• This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing in accordance with the current Drug and Alcohol Policy and applicable state law.
