Structural Designer

Knoxville, 10604 Murdock Dr, Knoxville, TN 37932, USA Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a Structural Designer to work with other members of the civil & structural team to deliver projects of varying complexity and size for our fossil and hydropower generating clients. Working in a team environment, daily tasks will include the design of additions and modifications to power generation related structural systems including: Deep foundation and retaining wall design. Structural steel design – pipe bridges, pipe and cable tray supports, equipment support structures, elevated platforms, steel buildings, etc. Drawing package preparation – AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, Plant 3D. Successful candidates will be: Well organized and self-motivated to complete tasks within agreed schedules. Creative with the ability to judge between alternate solutions to provide the optimal solution. Available to work overtime as necessary to meet project schedules and commitments. Available to travel out of town for project meetings and site visits. Safety conscious and will strictly adhere to company and client safety standards. Able to legally work in the U.S. Responsibilities include: Work under the direction of engineering staff and engineering/design managers. Prepare and complete discipline designs and supporting documentation such as design criteria, drawings and specifications. Work closely with design team and other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects. Perform technical and coordination checking/reviews of deliverables and other project documents. Manage personal task assignments, and adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned tasks. Assist in resolution of construction issues, resolving problems and concerns in a timely manner.
