General Manager

Washington, DC | Full-Time

Continental Club is looking for a General Manager to join our team and take the lead on day-to-day operations at our cocktail parlor inside Washington Union Station.

We’re part of SHKR, a small, female-led hospitality company based in DC. Because we’re a growing company, this is a great opportunity for someone who wants to have a real role in how a business operates and grow with us over time.

We’re looking for someone who is polished, organized, dependable, and good with people. This is a guest-facing leadership position, so professionalism, strong communication skills, and attention to detail matter. You should be able to lead a team, hold people accountable, handle problems as they come up, and also jump behind the bar or onto the floor when needed.

You do not need to have been a restaurant General Manager before. Previous management experience is important, but that experience can come from hospitality or another industry.

What we do require is previous restaurant experience as a bartender and/or server . We want someone managing the team who understands what it’s like to actually work a busy service and isn’t afraid to jump in and help.

You'll oversee the daily operation of Continental Club, including:

• Managing and scheduling the front-of-house team
• Training staff and setting clear expectations
• Being present on the floor and making sure service runs smoothly
• Building and enhancing the guest experience
• Opening and closing procedures
• Inventory, ordering, and general organization
• Cash handling and end-of-night procedures
• Maintaining standards for service, cleanliness, presentation, and professionalism
• Handling guest issues when they come up
• Communicating with ownership and flagging problems before they become bigger ones
• Helping us improve systems as we continue to grow

This is a hands-on role . We’re not looking for someone who wants to manage from the sidelines. If the bar gets slammed, a server needs help, or something goes wrong, we expect our GM to step in.

Someone who takes initiative and notices what needs to be done without always needing to be asked.

You should be polished and professional in how you present yourself, communicate with guests, and lead a team. At the same time, we want someone warm and personable who can create a welcoming environment for both guests and staff.

You should be comfortable giving direction and holding standards while still creating a positive environment for the team. We want someone who knows when to step in, make a decision, and take charge.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to grow.

Because SHKR is a small company, you’ll work closely with ownership and have much more exposure to the business than you might in a traditional restaurant group. There is room for this position to grow as Continental Club and SHKR continue to grow.
