Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with experience in pediatrics, specifically within a Level 4 NICU and pediatric cardiac setting. The role involves providing high-quality respiratory care to infants and neonates in a fast-paced, critical care environment.

Shifts and Schedule

• Shift: 3x12 hour days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Holiday rotation required
• Weekend commitment: Every other weekend
• Floating: Depends on experience

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a pediatric or NICU setting
• Certifications Required:
  
  
  • RRT Certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Licenses Accepted:
  
  
  • NBRC Certification
  • SC RCP (South Carolina Respiratory Care Provider)
• Preferred Experience: Proficient with Epic electronic health record system
• Pending License: RRT SC license must be obtained prior to start date

Additional Information

• Open to potentially accommodating block scheduling, subject to approval
• Radius rule: 60 miles. Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• All time-off requests must be submitted during the application process
• Potential for shifts to be canceled: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks

This position is within a teaching hospital recognized for its high standards of care, including designations as a Magnet facility and Level 1 Trauma Center. Staffed with 865 beds, the institution emphasizes education, quality improvement, and teamwork.

Emergency Response Awareness

During hurricane season (June through November), all employees may be assigned to emergency response teams. Candidates should be aware of this responsibility when considering the position.

Powers and Responsibilities

The RRT will perform advanced respiratory care and therapeutic interventions in compliance with best practices and protocols specific to neonatal and pediatric patients. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient care are essential for success in this role.
