About the Role We are seeking a highly accomplished senior‑level Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our elite Public Sector team at Salesforce. This unique high‑impact position blends technologist and strategic partner roles. You will drive the development and deployment of cutting‑edge AI solutions for mission‑critical work across the U.S. Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and Aerospace & Allied Nations. Requirements for this role include U.S. citizenship, no dual citizenship, and successful completion of a U.S. government background investigation with the required clearance level. TS/SCI with Polygraph is required. Ability to travel 25–50% of the time is required. Mission Impact Deploy cutting‑edge commercial innovation—e.g., Slack‑based AI agents, Data Cloud analytics, field service automation—into defense, intelligence, and aerospace environments to accelerate transformation. Become a trusted partner and collaborate directly with end‑users in classified and unclassified environments to understand mission needs, translate them into technical implementations using Salesforce’s multi‑cloud portfolio. Drive innovation by bridging customer missions and Salesforce engineering, gathering frontline feedback and co‑designing features to strengthen national security outcomes. Improve efficiency, mission‑readiness, and trust by helping governments deploy technology that delivers faster response times and better resource utilization. Execute hands‑on implementation of complex AI solutions, writing code, configuring systems, and troubleshooting while guiding junior team members. Build scalable production systems, architecting and deploying AI and LLM‑based intelligent agents and automated workflows on the Salesforce platform. Engineer bespoke agentic AI solutions, designing and building custom agents on the Agentforce platform to meet unique business requirements. Own the entire data lifecycle, from design of data models to building processing pipelines and integration strategies. Lead Agentforce innovation, pushing platform capabilities and developing user‑friendly intelligent agents. Conduct deep‑dive technical debugging and root‑cause analysis for complex system interactions, AI model behaviors, and data flows. Lead rapid prototyping and iteration to develop proofs‑of‑concept alongside client teams. Implement and enforce best practices for code quality, scalability, security, and maintainability across deployed solutions. Mission Responsibilities Serve as the technical lead on high‑profile customer engagements—designing, building, and deploying tailored Salesforce solutions. Partner with internal product and engineering teams to co‑develop new platform features addressing public sector requirements. Lead integration of AI/ML models, custom data pipelines, and automation flows for predictive maintenance and mission‑critical decisions. Enable customers to adopt Salesforce for field operations, asset visibility, command center operations, and secure collaboration via Slack and Government Cloud Plus. Work with customer IT/security teams to accelerate Authority to Operate and production go‑lives per DoD IL5/IL6 and other regulatory frameworks. Share lessons learned with the broader Salesforce community to shape playbooks and reusable assets for government innovation. Translate operational priorities into actionable technical roadmaps aligned with agency strategy. What We're Looking For We’re looking for a builder, a problem‑solver, and a mission‑first leader with a passion for public service. The ideal candidate brings: 8+ years of end‑to‑end delivery experience for scalable production solutions. Strong background in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline. Expert proficiency in one or more languages (JavaScript, Java, Python, Apex). Extensive experience building and deploying AI/LLM technologies, integrating LLMs, using orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex), prompt engineering, and agentic frameworks. Deep expertise in data modeling, processing, integration, and analytics on enterprise platforms (Salesforce Data Cloud, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery). Entrepreneurial, “get‑things‑done” attitude with proven ability to lead technical initiatives. Exceptional collaboration, communication, and presentation skills to articulate complex concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Proven ability to lead technical engagements, mentor juniors, and oversee project technical aspects. Experience working in or adjacent to secure environments. Ability to travel 25–50% of the time. U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship and ability to meet government screening standards. Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting DoD, IC, or Federal Civilian agencies. Background in defense/aerospace industries or operational military/logistics experience. Familiarity with IL5/IL6/CNSS #1253 requirements or deployment to classified environments. Significant direct experience with the Salesforce platform, including advanced configuration, customization, and complex development. Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud and/or Agentforce platform. Experience deploying conversational AI solutions in highly regulated industries. Expert‑level Apex and/or Python coding experience. Prior experience as a customer‑facing technical lead or architect. Advanced Salesforce platform certifications (Platform Developer II, Application Architect, System Architect, Agentforce Specialist). Extensive experience with Salesforce Flows and Lightning Web Components (LWC). Compensation is determined by location, job level, and experience. The base salary range for this position is $148,500 – $365,200 annually.
