Cost Accountant

Our client is seeking a results-driven Cost Accountant to play a pivotal role in driving our financial efficiency and operational success. In this position, you will lead cost accounting processes, analyze production expenses and job margins, manage inventory valuation, and collaborate across departments to optimize profitability and support accurate sales quoting. If you hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment, strong Excel and ERP skills, and a passion for turning complex data into actionable cost‑saving strategies, we want to hear from you! salary: $60,000 - $87,000 per year shift: First work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM education: Bachelors Responsibilities Cost Accounting & Analysis: Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, analyze production, material, labor, and overhead costs, and work with AP to ensure proper job-cost coding. Margin & Variance Tracking: Monitor job margins, compare actual versus expected costs, analyze variances, and recommend cost‑saving opportunities to executive management. Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in cross-functional initiatives to optimize processes and help sales build accurate cost tools for order quoting. Inventory & Asset Oversight: Oversee physical inventory counts, analyze inventory aging and reserves, evaluate ROI on capital purchases, and supervise fixed asset verifications. Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries, complete month-end closing activities, build financial reports, and assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasting. Compliance, Tax & Audit: Ensure adherence to accounting standards, prepare tax and compliance reports (sales tax, income tax schedules, 1099s), and assist CPA firms during audits.
