Description of Job Work Environment : This position is part‑time (40% PTE), benefits‑eligible, and term‑limited with an expected end date of May 31, 2027, contingent upon the availability of funding. The role is state‑funded and federally funded. The position is eligible for a hybrid work environment with remote/Home Office options, but commuting to CDE buildings is required and the incumbent must report to the work location per business needs. Extended hours during evenings or weekends may be required. Position Summary The CDE is seeking a 0.4 PTE District Transformation Specialist to support major initiatives within the School and District Transformation Team. The role aligns resources, supports, and strategic initiatives to drive meaningful results in high‑need schools and districts. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting high‑need schools and districts, highly organized, skilled at analyzing challenges, designing effective improvements, building strong stakeholder relationships, and committed to delivering high‑quality support to district and school leaders. Major Duties And Responsibilities Facilitator and Lead for Accountability Work Group Role & Responsibilities: Stakeholder Engagement & Accountability Systems Plan, lead, and facilitate in‑person and virtual meetings with external stakeholders to gather feedback on proposed accountability systems. Conduct pre‑engagement data collection through surveys and other tools. Design meeting agendas and facilitate dialogue, ensuring inclusive participation. Guide the group toward consensus or quorum and follow up post‑meeting to maximize alignment. Leverage experience as a former senior district leader to establish credibility and trust. Revise and review applications for the work group; design onboarding and welcome activities. Create a scope and sequence for upcoming topics and maintain it for senior leadership. Lead planning sessions with internal and external stakeholders for the Accountability Work Group. District Planning And Special Projects Lead professional development and learning at conferences and leadership events (e.g., CASE, CCSSO, CASB, Elevating Excellence, the Transformation Network). Collaborate with leaders in the division (Improvement Unit, Innovation Unit) and provide technical assistance to the field and other CDE departments. Special Projects And Other Duties As Assigned Support Diagnostic Reviews and Improvement Planning as needed. Contribute to special projects as a content expert in district improvement strategies, professional learning, and planning. Attend relevant meetings, trainings, and events to effectively carry out major duties. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in education. At least seven (7) years of experience leading district improvement efforts, including at least five (5) years of senior leadership experience and a minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting a school identified on the accountability clock.
