Market Risk (Risk Management) : Job Level - Vice President

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Vice President desk-facing risk manager to join its New York based Commodities Market Risk Management team to lead the coverage of North America Power and Gas (NAPG) businessYou Will:> Continuously monitor the markets and measure the impact on MS's NAPG business, including analyzing complex trades and trading strategies and assessing material weaknesses or overlooked risks> Live discussion and independent challenge of traders, trading management and strategists. Appropriate escalation of risks identified to senior risk managers> Understand P&L drivers and construct any necessary tools to facilitate risk and P&L analysis.> Continuously review limit and reporting framework to ensure appropriateness in light of new trades, business strategy, new products and market conditions> Manage, mentor, train and develop a team of junior risk managers> Development of risk methodologies, tools and involvement in system improvement working closely with traders, quantitative analysts, IT and other groups within the Firm> Utilize and enhance comprehensive stress tests that highlight all key risks and participate in regular signoff of risk submissions to regulators and senior management.> Communicate key risks to senior management on a regular basis, including creation of presentations articulating key risks and portfolio changes, escalating emerging or developing risks as necessary> Contribute to the assessment of the suitability and performance of pricing and risk models. Work with relevant groups to address material deficiencies> Liaise with and develop effective & constructive working relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders including Sales and Trading, Business Unit Risk Management, Desk Strategists, Finance, Technology and Operations and other groups within Firm Risk Management ExperienceYou Hav e:-Advanced experience in North America Power and Gas is required. Exposure to other commodities products or other asset classes will also be looked at favorably-Understanding of risk management concepts such as VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis, and capital- Independent mindset and ability to challenge people and established processes- Proactive with the ability to work as both part of a close-knit team and independently- Strong proficiency with a variety of technology tools, including analyzing large data sets using tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, AI- Highly developed oral and written communication skills which can be used to prepare and present risk information to a variety of audiences- 5-10 years of relevant experience is preferred- Attention to detail, project management and prioritization skills will also be key in balancing daily deadlines with timely implementation of strategic projects.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY:At Morgan Stanley, we raise, manage and allocate capital for our clients – helping them reach their goals.
