About the Role

The Company is in search of an Executive Director to provide strategic leadership, operational excellence, and fiduciary stewardship for its multi-plan public retirement system. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a multi-year modernization of pension administration capabilities, overseeing benefit programs and service delivery, and providing organization-wide leadership to a large, multidisciplinary team. This role requires a focus on sustaining strong funding, service quality, and trust with members, employers, and policymakers, and involves both internal operations and external leadership, including legislative engagement and stakeholder relations. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree preferred, and at least 5 years of leadership experience in public pensions, benefits administration, public finance, or comparable public sector environments. The role demands experience in leading large teams, managing enterprise operations, and a proven track record of engaging with legislative bodies and/or regulatory agencies. Familiarity with the public sector landscape, particularly in Minnesota, is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have a background in actuarial, finance, public administration, or legal training, and be adept at technology modernization and cybersecurity. The Executive Director will be accountable to an 11-member Board of Trustees and must be committed to the values of the organization, including diversity, equity, and inclusion.
