Description At Chattanooga College MDTC, the Campus Director will help implement our strategy of “Where a small school can make a BIG difference!!”
The Campus Director will provide senior on-site academic leadership to campus-based Program Directors, faculty, academic support personnel, and students to support instructional quality, consistency, student academic progress, and daily execution of all campus-based academic activities. This includes responsibilities such as overseeing instruction and faculty performance, course scheduling, academic compliance, assessment, resource management, and campus operations. Ideal candidates must have excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and listening skills. Candidates must be able to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and manage multiple priorities and changing assignments.
This is a professional position supporting the Academic Affairs department. This role requires considerable interaction with students, faculty, staff, and external partners through individual meetings, group sessions, and/or events. Campus Directors are expected to possess extensive knowledge of campus programs, academic policies, accreditation standards, instructional schedules, and student support systems. They must be able to interpret individual needs, provide personalized support, and work effectively with individuals who may be confused, stressed, or demanding.
Employees in this role can expect to support individuals regarding academic plans, course completion, progression, retention, graduation, and licensure or certification outcomes, assist with decision-making related to institutional processes, and help guide individuals toward successful outcomes. This position requires maintaining confidentiality and accurate records to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and federal regulations (e.g., FERPA, as applicable). The role may also support institutional events such as Orientation, Graduation, campus meetings, student events, and community or employer outreach activities. A strong commitment to equity, access, opportunity, affordability, upward mobility, and success for underrepresented or at-risk populations is essential.

- Implements solutions, including student information systems, learning management systems, and instructional technology, to promote efficiency, access, and academic success.
- Completes required professional development and training annually.
- Supports department-wide and student services initiatives, including early intervention, academic advising, remediation, and tutoring referrals.
- Maintains accurate documentation, faculty files, and instructional records in compliance with institutional, accreditation, state authorization, and federal requirements.
- Collaborates with departments and colleagues—including Program Directors, Deans, Registrar, Student Services, and Career Services—to increase engagement, retention, and success, especially for at-risk populations.
- Provides appropriate referrals for personal, social, and/or academic concerns that may impair student success.
- Upholds confidentiality and complies with institutional policies, accreditation standards, state authorization, and federal regulations.
- Assists with planning and coordination of events such as Orientation, Graduation, campus meetings, advisory committees, and outreach activities.
- Maintains tools, systems, classrooms, laboratories, simulation spaces, and learning resources necessary to effectively perform job duties and support scheduled learning activities.
- Remains current on relevant state and federal guidelines, programmatic accreditation standards, emerging best practices, and research related to the role.
- Collaborates with the Provost and maintains regular coordination with the President.
Please note: This job description is not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and public presentation skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, central departments, and external partners.

- Knowledge of the role’s function in supporting instructional quality, learning, access, and student upward mobility.
