Summary This position is located with the Fort Thompson Service Unit. The primary purpose of this position is to operate a variety of Motor Vehicles to provide transportation services and Custodial Work. Follows all safety rules, regulations and traffic signs, and drives carefully and avoids rough terrain and hazardous roads. Performs preventative maintenance services as required on a variety of vehciles. Required to complete daily logs on vehicle operation and patient transportation. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: WG-5: Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the federal wage system job grading standards for WG-5703. No specific length of experience is required. Applicants will be rated on the basis of their response to the assessment questions included in the vacancy announcement and the information contained in their resume. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: A valid State Driver's License is required to operate government-owned or -leased motor vehicles. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. PHYSICAL EFFORT Light physical effort is used in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand controls on vehicles operated. When hauling supplies and equipment may be required to lift objects weighing less or more than 50 pounds. When performing custodial duties physical effort is involved in moving and controlling heavy powered equipment, carrying and setting up ladders and scaffolding, etc. Must frequently lift and move objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and be subject to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug testing upon hiring. Appointment to the position will be contingent upon a negative applicant drug test result. Education There are no education requirements. Additional Information Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. This position has no promotion potential. No government housing.
