POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Educational Instructor aide is responsible and able to demonstrate/ model values commitment, collaboration, trust, respect, excellence, and accountability. The Educational Instructor aide is responsible for supervising student's learning through the following actions: assisting educational instructors with tasks assigned to student's, open communication with educational instructors and maintaining a safe and trauma informed learning environment.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent GED. Bilingual English/Spanish, ability to read, analyzes, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints. Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications. Be able to show proof of immunization or immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route, including: Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least four weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from a healthcare provider verifying previous infection. MMR: two doses of MMR vaccine (at least four weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases. Influenza: one dose annually during flu season.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibility Areas: Reinforce lessons presented by the educational instructors by reviewing material with student's one on one or in small groups. Willing to adjust and be flexible to various classroom activities. Take initiative in the classroom setting: ex: keeping classroom clean and safe, guides students with independent class work, communicate any concerns to educational instructor etc. Help educational instructor prepare for lessons by getting materials ready or setting up equipment, such as projects. Work with students in individualized reading groups. Assist to supervise students in class, between classes, during physical education activities, during lunch and free time. Assist educational instructors to review classwork and homework. Support the social and emotional development of students by reporting any issues when required. Support the educational instructor in managing challenging student behavior and promoting positive behavior. Meet on a weekly basis with educational instructors to discuss lesson plans and student development. Provide a safe and respectful learning environment adhere to professional boundaries and confidentiality of students in the learning process. Provide opportunities for student dialog and interaction. Assess student learning and provide ongoing formative feedback for growth. Communicate continuous progress of students to educational instructors. Demonstrate sensitivity to students needs and circumstances. Assist to monitor student's needs in order to remediate educational deficiencies. Assist in the educational counseling and guidance with emphasis on maximum progress of participants. Assist in maintaining records portfolios and student reports. Adhere to State, Office of Refugee and Resettlement regulations and agency procedures. Adhere to Child Abuse Reporting requirements. Must be relied upon regarding task completion and meeting deadlines on time without sacrificing accuracy, work quality, or customer service satisfaction. Attend meetings and trainings when requested. Perform other duties as requested by the assigned supervisor and/or management. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram or schedule form.
