Open Rank Clinical Faculty - Lawyering Skills & Strategies (LSS)

Job Overview The University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) is inviting applications for a promotion‑eligible, non‑tenure‑track open rank clinical faculty position in Lawyering Skills & Strategies (LSS) for the 2026-2027 academic year. The position is a 9‑month contract beginning in August 2026 and continuing through the spring semester of 2027. Responsibilities Teach two courses each semester of UHLC’s first‑year Legal Writing course, entitled Lawyering Skills & Strategies. Develop and deliver course materials and assessments. Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum development, and academic reviews. Update teaching practices based on student feedback and institutional priorities. Potentially secure annual contract renewals leading to a preferably renewable multi‑year contract at the associate or full rank, based on performance. Qualifications J.D. degree from an ABA‑accredited law school. Commitment to teaching and mentoring first‑year law students. Compensation and Benefits Initial salary range: approximately $94,000 for a nine‑month academic year at the Assistant level. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
