SUMMARY Supervise all employees in the production department in the manufacture of high‑quality products in a cost‑effective manner. Train and maintain a safe and productive workforce in a positive teamwork environment. Coach, counsel and discipline as required. Also, direct activities of all other off‑shift employees. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Manage a safe work environment Responsible for safety training on production equipment Responsible for safety audits in the production department Monitor all equipment guarding and personal safety equipment Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping in all areas of the plant Ensure that employees are following safety procedures and using appropriate protective equipment Maintain a high level of quality for our customer’s products Train all employees on product quality standards and customers expectations Communicate to all employees on the critical aspects of our products Conduct shop floor quality audits, inspections and product approvals Create a well‑trained efficient work force Cross train employees to maintain a competitive, knowledgeable and flexible work force Responsible for continued productivity improvements, scrap reduction and plant OEE targets Ensure that all employees have the required tools and equipment to successfully perform their duties in the most cost efficient manner Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive teamwork atmosphere and support 5s and continuous improvement activities GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Develop, implement and support cost reduction programs Required to interface with all departments Complete corrective action analysis and resolution on customer rejections; facilitate root cause resolution to problems Complete all shutdown procedures to secure the facility at end of shift Generate reports as required Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Associate degree + 1 to 3 years in a leadership role or 2+ years related experience in the printing industry preferably in flexographic environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and direct a diverse work force. Mechanical knowledge and aptitude. Solid computer skills including Word and Excel. Strong visual color comprehension and math, ruler and analytical skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical benefits required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job include normal range of mobility necessary to work in a manufacturing environment and interface with all functions within the facility. The employee is consistently required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use a computer and speak with other employees. May be required to stoop, squat, stretch and lift. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee primarily works in a production environment with exposure to loud noises, fumes and moving equipment. SATO contributes approximately 75% to the cost of employees’ health insurance coverage along with 100% company paid Life & AD&D, short‑term and long‑term disability insurance, and a pre‑tax Health Savings Account with an employer contribution of $500.00 or $1,000.00 depending on elected medical coverage. Time Away We observe 10 company‑paid holidays per year and up to ten (10) days accrued vacation time in the first year. Eleven (11) days at year two (2). Twelve (12) days at year three (3). Thirteen (13) days at year four (4) and fifteen (15) days at year five (5). We also offer six (6) accrued personal days for you to use for things like weddings, moving, mental health, religious holiday, sick child or for anything that is truly personal. Saving for the Future Plan for your short‑term and long‑term goals with our 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match with no vesting schedule. You are fully vested on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. SATO will match 100%/dollar‑for‑dollar of your 401(k) deferral amount of the first 3% of your pay and an additional match of 50%/$.50 on the next 2% of your pay. For example, if you defer 5% of your pay into the 401(k) Plan, SATO will make a 4% matching contribution.
