Assistant Controller

Responsibilities: The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the accounting operations of the division. This role plays a key part in financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies. What you will do: Support oversight of the accounting function, including accounts payable, subcontractor payables, payroll, receivables, job cost accounting, and general ledger activities. Ensure financial reporting and accounting practices comply with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies. Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and corporate leadership. Support development of annual operating budgets, housing budgets, capital budgets, land development budgets, and cash flow projections. Partner with leadership to analyze budget vs. actual performance and assist with financial forecasting and profitability analysis. Assist in the preparation and review of tax filings, including personal property, sales and use, and real estate tax returns. Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and assisting with audit processes. Help design and maintain accounting procedures that strengthen financial controls and reporting processes. Collaborate with department leaders to ensure consistent cost coding and general ledger accounting practices. What you will need: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA (or actively pursuing) preferred/not required. 3 - 10 years of experience preferred, ideally in public accounting (audit or assurance) or a corporate accounting environment. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting controls. Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and variance analysis. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
