General Superintendent
Leola Construction
The General Superintendent is the most senior field leadership role at Dueall Construction. This individual is accountable for the overall execution, quality, safety, and schedule performance across multiple concurrent projects or a single large-scale program. The General Superintendent serves as the operational bridge between the Director of Operations and the project-level superintendent staff, translating company standards into daily field execution. Beyond personal project oversight, the General Superintendent carries direct responsibility for the training, coaching, development, and performance management of all superintendents within their assigned region or portfolio. This role requires someone who leads from the front — present in the field, visible to trade partners, and relentless in upholding standards. At Dueall, we specialize in comprehensive exterior remediation and restoration. Our work spans stucco repair, cladding remediation, waterproofing, painting and finishing, and construction defect correction. Whether it’s a large-scale HOA renovation or a commercial building restoration, we blend technical expertise with creative problem-solving to restore beauty, integrity, and performance to every project we touch. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Field Operations Leadership Provide senior-level field oversight across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring all work is executed in strict compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, and Dueall Construction quality standards. Lead and enforce Dueall Construction’s Superintendent Standard Operating Procedures (SOP-001 through SOP-005) across all assigned projects. Ensure every superintendent under your direction understands, follows, and is held accountable to these procedures without exception. Conduct regular, unannounced field audits of superintendent performance including verification of daily logs, safety inspections, quality inspections, look-ahead schedules, punch list management, and Procore documentation compliance. Serve as the first point of escalation for field-level issues that exceed a project superintendent’s authority or experience, including trade disputes, schedule recovery decisions, defective work directives, and owner/architect interactions. Personally manage the most complex, high-risk, or high-profile projects in the company’s portfolio when assigned by the Director of Operations. Drive a culture of urgency, ownership, and accountability on every jobsite. Zero tolerance for passive field management. Schedule Execution & Recovery Own the integrity of the master schedule across all assigned projects. Review and approve all 3-week look-ahead schedules prepared by project superintendents before distribution. Identify schedule risks across the portfolio before they become critical and develop recovery strategies including manpower loading, resequencing, overtime authorization, and acceleration plans. Chair weekly look-ahead review meetings on critical projects and participate in all OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings as the senior field representative. Hold subcontractors accountable to committed manpower and schedule milestones. Issue and enforce superintendent directives through Procore Correspondence when subcontractor performance is deficient. Coordinate with the Director of Operations and project management team on any schedule impacts that affect contractual milestones, liquidated damages exposure, or owner commitments. Safety & Risk Management Establish and enforce a zero-compromise safety culture on every jobsite under your oversight. The General Superintendent sets the tone if safety standards slip, it starts at the top. Ensure all superintendents are conducting and properly documenting daily safety talks, daily jobsite safety inspections, and hazard observations per SOP-003. Personally conduct weekly safety audits across all assigned projects. Audit results must be documented in Procore and deficiencies addressed with a corrective action plan within 24 hours. Lead the incident response protocol for any OSHA-recordable event, near-miss, or property damage incident. Coordinate with the Director of Operations, safety consultants, and legal counsel as required. Ensure all subcontractor safety plans, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and insurance certificates are on file in Procore before any trade mobilizes. No exceptions. Mentor superintendents on how to identify, address, and document hazards effectively not just check boxes on an inspection form. Quality Control & Workmanship Serve as the final quality authority in the field. Conduct stage-gate inspections on critical scopes including framing, sheathing, WRB, lath, stucco, insulation, paint, and sealants per SOP-004. Enforce the hold-point inspection protocol: no subsequent scope may proceed over failed or uninspected work. The General Superintendent has full authority to stop work when quality standards are not met. Oversee the punch list process from initiation through owner acceptance. Ensure punch lists are started 30 days before substantial completion and are actively managed daily not reactive. Drive a zero defects delivered to the owner culture. Every deficiency is the contractor’s problem to find and fix before the owner ever sees it. Review and validate all quality inspection records in Procore to ensure superintendents are documenting with the specificity and photographic evidence required by the SOPs. Subcontractor Coordination & Communication Oversee all pre-mobilization meetings for major subcontractors. Ensure site rules, quality expectations, schedule commitments, safety plans, and Procore documentation requirements are clearly communicated and documented per SOP-005. Establish and maintain professional, firm, and productive relationships with all trade partners. The General Superintendent is the face of Dueall Construction in the field. Manage escalated subcontractor performance issues including formal notices, back-charge documentation, and supplemental manpower directives. Enforce the communication standard: all written direction goes through Procore Correspondence, all design conflicts go through the RFI process, and no verbal commitments are made regarding scope, schedule, or cost changes. Ever. Coordinate multi-trade logistics on congested jobsites including crane time, material staging, elevator access, and shared work zone sequencing. Procore Technology & Documentation Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Procore Project Management across all field-facing modules: Daily Log, Photos, Inspections, Observations, Schedule, Punch List, RFIs, Submittals, Meetings, Correspondence, Incidents, Drawings, and Directory. Serve as the Procore field champion train, coach, and hold accountable all superintendents on proper Procore usage per the SOPs. If a superintendent does not know how to use a Procore tool, the General Superintendent is expected to teach them on the spot. Conduct weekly Procore documentation audits on all assigned projects. Audit criteria include: daily log completeness and timeliness, photo documentation quality, observation follow-through, inspection completion rates, and punch list management. Partner with the Director of Operations on Procore process improvements, template standardization, and reporting workflows as the company continues to mature its technology platform. Workforce Development & Mentorship Directly mentor, coach, and develop the existing superintendent staff. This is not an optional responsibility it is a primary function of the role. Dueall Construction’s growth depends on building the next generation of field leaders from within. Conduct monthly one-on-one performance reviews with each superintendent in your portfolio. Reviews must cover SOP compliance, Procore documentation quality, schedule performance, safety record, and professional development goals. Identify skill gaps in the superintendent ranks and design targeted training plans. Deliver hands-on, field-based training not just presentations. Provide candid, constructive, and timely feedback. Address underperformance directly and document per the company’s progressive discipline policy. Assist the Director of Operations in evaluating superintendent candidates for hiring and promotion decisions. Build a culture where accountability is expected, excellence is recognized, and mediocrity is not tolerated. Required Qualifications And Experience Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in commercial construction field operations, with at least 5 years in a General Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, or Area Superintendent capacity overseeing multiple concurrent projects. Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering projects valued at $10M+ individually, or managing a portfolio of $30M+ in concurrent project value. Direct experience with the following scopes: wood-frame and/or steel-frame construction, exterior envelope systems (WRB, lath, stucco, waterproofing), MEP coordination, and finish trades. Proven history of managing and developing superintendent-level staff in a mentorship or direct-report capacity. Experience working with or implementing construction management technology platforms Procore experience is strongly preferred. Technical Knowledge Expert-level knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing across all major trades. Thorough understanding of construction scheduling principles including critical path method (CPM), float management, resource loading, and schedule recovery techniques. Strong command of plan reading, specification interpretation, and constructability review. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926), fall protection standards, scaffolding requirements, excavation safety, and confined space protocols. Familiarity with building codes (IBC/IRC), ADA requirements, and local jurisdictional inspection processes. Leadership & Communication Proven ability to lead, motivate, and hold accountable a diverse field workforce including superintendents, foremen, and trade partners. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to represent Dueall Construction professionally in owner meetings, design team interactions, and regulatory inspections. Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions under pressure, manage conflict constructively, and maintain composure in high-stress field situations. Track record of building and sustaining a strong safety culture not through fear, but through genuine leadership and consistent example. Willingness and ability to deliver difficult feedback, address underperformance, and make tough personnel decisions when necessary. Certifications and Education OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification Required. First Aid / CPR certification Required. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field Preferred. Equivalent field experience (15+ years) will be considered in lieu of a degree. Procore Certified: Project Manager or Superintendent certification Preferred (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire). Our Company offers a competitive 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching, alongside comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans to support your health and wellbeing. You’ll receive generous paid time off that includes PTO, floating holidays, and company paid holidays, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
