Personal Banker - Hampton (Full-time)

Position Overview As a Personal Banker at Provident Bank, you will establish relationships with customers and prospective customers to understand, identify, and satisfy their financial needs while providing a positive customer experience during each branch interaction. The role involves processing a variety of financial transactions, cross‑selling products, serving accounts, and promoting organizational products and services by referring customers to appropriate departments. Key Responsibilities Meet sales referrals and cross‑selling goals by understanding the features and benefits of all products and services. Promote bank products, resolve customer inquiries, and refer or resolve issues concerning accounts or banking services. Actively refer customers for commercial products or services to branch manager, market manager, or appropriate business partner. Exceed customer expectations through active engagement and dedication to servicing and building customer relationships. Advance the Bank's Corporate Sales Program through consultative needs assessments, developing new relationships, and managing and growing a book of business. Service Identify opportunities with customers through lobby management. Assist customers with digital technologies and provide referrals to other lines of business. Maintain cost efficiency and help achieve branch goals while ensuring quality of customer service and adherence to sales and brand standards. Take responsibility for sales and service activities. Operations Ensure operational and financial safety and soundness in accordance with Bank policies, compliance, and applicable laws. Use lobby management to control and mitigate risk. Establish customer identity according to guidelines and adhere to all compliance procedures. Assist branch management with branch operations as needed. Perform transactions including check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments. Prepare and complete Currency Transaction Reports and Suspicious Activity Forms for appropriate transactions. Assist in training other branch employees and provide support to the contact center during high call volumes. Handle customer inquiries by telephone and provide access to safe deposit boxes. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 6 months of sales and service experience in a customer‑facing retail environment. Strong interpersonal skills, including listening, written, and verbal communication. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs. Professional demeanor with all customers and coworkers. Strong math and analytical skills. Understanding and adherence to safety and security practices. Good relationship building skills. Proficient at establishing strong connections with customers through consultative conversations and presentation of sales opportunities. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Proficient PC skills; ability to learn various computer programs, including Microsoft Office. Required to register as a mortgage loan originator with NMLS prior to handling mortgage loan applications or terms secured by a residence. Preferred Qualifications Prior retail banking experience. Life and Health licenses to support investment programs. Working Conditions Retail banking branch environment with general office conditions. Willingness to work required overtime, travel to other locations/branches, and adapt to new job locations and reassignments as directed. Lifting from 5 to 25 lbs. Prolonged sitting/standing. Occasional bending or stooping to retrieve coins from the vault. Work is performed in a normal office environment with moderate noise levels. May involve travel to customers and property locations. Pay $18.41 - $23.03 Base pay may vary based on candidate skills, experience, job-related knowledge, education, geographic location, internal equity, and other business needs.
