Associate Attorney

Johnson Evans & Headrick, P.C. is hiring a Georgia-licensed litigation associate with at least three years of civil litigation experience to join our personal injury defense practice. Company Description Johnson Evans & Headrick, P.C. is a regional law firm with offices in Nashville, Knoxville, Atlanta, Austin, and San Francisco. We specialize in commercial litigation, intellectual property matters, business services, and insurance defense. We are currently seeking highly qualified and experienced insurance defense litigation attorneys to handle and defend commercial motor carriers, premises owners, and general liability insureds in Georgia state courts. We are small by design. Associates here do not review documents for two years before seeing a deposition. You will take and defend depositions, argue motions, and attend mediations from the start. Role Description This is a full-time role for an Associate Attorney with at least 3-5 years of experience in civil litigation. The Associate Attorney will handle day-to-day tasks related to legal research, drafting pleadings and discovery, taking depositions, and attending hearings. The primary focus of this position will be insurance defense both for carriers and insureds. Excellent writing skills, ability to efficiently manage responsibilities, and interpersonal skills are the qualities we are seeking. Responsibilities will include: Manage a defense docket of Georgia state and federal matters from answer through trial, with partner oversight on strategy; Draft dispositive motions, discovery, Daubert challenges, and motions in limine; Take and defend fact, treating-physician, and expert depositions; Prepare case evaluations, litigation plans, and status reports for carrier clients; Try cases — second chair at first, first chair when you are ready. Qualifications Legal Research, Negotiation, and Legal Advice skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in a team Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law schoolAdmission to a state bar required Requirements Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia (mandatory) Minimum three years of civil litigation experience; insurance defense or personal injury experience preferred Demonstrated writing ability — we will ask for an unedited writing sample you primarily authored Location and schedule Remote or hybrid.
