Customer Service Representative

Medicap Home Medical is seeking a full-time Customer Service Representative. This is an in-person position in our retail store at 1801 2nd Ave Des Moines and is not a remote position. Who We Are Medicap Home Medical is Central Iowa's leading independent provider of Home Respiratory and Home Medical Equipment. What We Do What we do matters. As a Customer Service Representative, you will work directly with patients in a retail setting. Job duties include working with patients and their caregivers both face-to-face and over the phone to meet their home medical equipment and supply needs, communicating with physicians, hospitals and other referral sources, and working with insurance companies in order to get equipment covered. In this role you will learn about a variety of home medical equipment and supplies, including home oxygen, hospital beds, wheelchairs and more. You will learn about coverage guidelines for various home medical equipment and supplies, how to educate patients and their caregivers on proper use, and how to troubleshoot when things don't quite go as expected. Previous home medical experience is preferred for this position but not required - we're willing to train the right person. This position requires the ability to sit at a desk and stand and work face to face with patients, and also requires frequent squatting, bending and twisting. Candidates must be able to follow directions, be detail-oriented, and have basic competencies using a smartphone, iPad and desktop computer. As an accredited company, Medicap Home Medical requires that candidates successfully pass all required pre-employment screenings prior to starting employment. Required screenings for the Customer Service position include a criminal background check, a driving record check, and OIG Exclusions List screening.
