Schedule/Shift

3x12, Night shifts, with typical patient ratios of 1:4 up to 1:6. May be required to pick up one additional shift during the schedule period every four weeks. Floating to Intensive Care Units and medical-surgical units may be required based on the needs of the organization.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Telemetry unit is responsible for providing optimal patient care utilizing nursing knowledge and skills within the context of the nursing process. You will oversee comprehensive nursing services for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including their families. The patient population includes conditions such as CHF, Alcohol Withdrawal, NSTEMIs, sepsis, dysrhythmias, pneumonia, COPD, and post-procedure care for patients who have undergone pacemaker installations, ablations, and cath lab procedures.

This 38-bed unit supports patients monitored by Critical Care Techs (CCTs), who oversee ECG rhythms 24/7, while Advanced Care Techs (ACTs) assist with various patient care tasks. The unit environment is described as extremely busy and fast-paced, with services provided by a multidisciplinary team including Rapid Response Teams, phlebotomists, EKG technicians, and Respiratory Therapists.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for telemetry patients.
• Monitor and diagnose health responses to a variety of patient conditions.
• Coordinate care with other health professionals.
• Administer medications, including non-titratable cardiac medication drips.
• Maintain patient records and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Required Experience

Minimum of 2 years of Telemetry experience required. Experience must include passing a telemetry competency exam, specifically identifying and measuring rhythm strips. Prior travel experience of one 13-week assignment is required.

Certifications/Licensure

• Must hold an active NV RN license prior to start.
• BLS (AHA) certification required.
• ACLS (AHA) certification required.
• NIHSS (APEX) certification required.
