The firm is committed to excellence and building lasting relationships with its clients. Role Description The Accountant role at PPL CPA is a full-time, on-site position based in Baton Rouge, LA. Our firm is looking for our next great accounting associate to fill the role of bookkeeping associate in our Baton Rouge office. This role represents a key member of our accounting services team. Our firm services small businesses, so efficiency and accuracy are key in delivering clients error-free and timely financial information. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including posting transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and preparing journal entries. The Accountant will assist with preparing financial statements, supporting tax return preparation, and compiling reports for internal review and client use. Daily tasks include managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, monitoring general ledger activity, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and firm policies. The role also involves communicating with clients and internal team members to gather information, resolve discrepancies, and provide timely updates on financial matters. Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years experience in public accounting is required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant bookkeeping or accounting experience in a CPA firm or similar environment is required. Strong core accounting skills, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation. Proficiency with bookkeeping and accounting software (such as QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online). Experience using Microsoft Office products (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) with solid spreadsheet skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel). Knowledge of basic tax concepts, support for tax return preparation, and familiarity with relevant accounting and tax regulations. Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including managing multiple deadlines and priorities. Ability to work on-site in Baton Rouge, LA, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism. This is a full-time position with a suite of benefits, including health insurance, vacation and personal time, as well as a 401(k). Some overtime is expected during our busy season. We have a flexible work schedule for our experienced team members. Normal office hours are full days on Mondays through Thursdays with a half day on Friday, except during the months of January through April.
