Substitute Custodian PositionsSubstitute positions are on call as needed. May not work every day.Reports To: School's Head Custodian or Building AdministrationPosition Purpose: To provide the upkeep, maintenance, cleanliness, safety and security of the assigned building so a safe, clean environment will be available for teaching and learning while the permanent custodian is absent.Qualifications:Ability to work with minimum supervisionAbility to follow instructionsUnderstanding of custodial dutiesKnowledge of occupational hazard, safety precautions, hazardous materials and the proper way to perform the assigned dutyAbility to perform work independently according to prescribed standards and proceduresAbility to work in varied weather and temperature conditionsPossess good communication skillsPhysical/Emotional Requirements:The incumbent may be required to use the following skills and abilities during any part of the work day: Speaking, hearing, visual, bending/stooping, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, climbing, kneeling, standing, lifting 60 pounds, carrying 80 pounds, moving/pulling 300 pounds.Performance Responsibilities:Respond to requests for services in a timely and courteous mannerAccomplish tasks in a safe and efficient manner, such as sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, waxing, polishing, emptying waste receptacles, cleaning restrooms and water fountains, washing windows and walls and replacing light bulbs and filters.Respond to staff and/or administration in a courteous and helpful mannerAssist in snow removal or other related duties as assignedAccomplish assigned tasks in a safe and efficient mannerConsult a supervisor if there are job problemsDemonstrate a professional image through appearance, language, and work ethicComplete a variety of work assignments as assignedPosition Type: Part-TimeSalary: $11.81 to $13.67 Per Hour
