Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have: - Moderate Conscious Sedation competency testing prior to start - Experience ready to jump in Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room. The unit has 24+ beds with mid-level staff for fast track care. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4. The facility uses Cerner FirstNet for electronic medical records. Charge nurses are available for support. Patient care technicians are present to assist nursing staff. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holiday shifts will rotate among staff. Nurses will wear navy scrubs. The Emergency Room is busy, seeing an average of 150 patients per day. The patient population includes a mix of adults and pediatrics. Acute and emergent cases primarily fill the department. Patients requiring higher levels of care are transferred as needed. Psychiatric holds are maintained for short durations. The environment often includes a substantial number of homeless individuals. Shifts may vary in their start times throughout the day. Floating to other units is not required. Orientation involves two shifts specific to the unit. The facility has a 24/7 hospitalist or intensivist on site. Respiratory therapy services are available 24/7. Pharmacy support is present in the Emergency Room during daytime hours. No IV team is available. Nurses must be adaptable and ready for a fast-paced emergency setting. Cancellation policy: Up to four shifts may be canceled by the facility within the assignment period.
