Senior Accountant

Kforce has a client in Hanover, MD that is seeking a Senior Accountant. Responsibilities:

• Process and record financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner
• Reconcile financial records and account activity to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Research and resolve discrepancies, exceptions, and outstanding items
• Maintain supporting documentation and ensure records are organized and audit-ready
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
• Support financial reporting and accounting processes by preparing schedules and analyses as needed
• Monitor and maintain general ledger accounts
• Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation and preparing supporting schedules
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and adherence to company policies
• Support compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and established procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance accuracy
• Escalate unusual transactions, discrepancies, or potential control concerns to management as appropriate
• Perform additional accounting and finance-related duties as assigned
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
• 1-3+ years of accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or related financial experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, general ledger functions, and financial reconciliations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills
• High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential information
• Knowledge of internal controls and financial documentation practices preferred
