Embedded Software Engineer

Embedded Software EngineerPGS Worldwide is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Palmdale, CA for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.The Embedded Software Engineer will support vehicle management software development for current and future aircraft platforms. This role spans the embedded software development lifecycle, including requirements generation, system and software design, implementation, integration, and flight test support. The position requires strong recent experience with C or embedded C++, Linux, embedded systems, Agile development tools, and Python.Required Skills5+ years of recent experience with C preferred, or 7+ years of embedded C++ experience.5+ years of recent Linux experience.5+ years of recent experience developing software for embedded systems.3+ years of experience with Git and one or more Agile tools such as Bitbucket, Jira, VersionOne, Confluence, or GitLab.Experience working in an Agile software development environment.2–3 years of Python experience.Good oral and written communication skills.Good presentation skills.Ability to adapt in a fast-paced team environment.Ability to build and maintain relationships, collaborate with others, and manage interpersonal dynamics.Preferred SkillsExperience with Linux or RTOS and related development toolchains.Experience with Real Time Operating Systems.Experience developing software for embedded real-time systems.Experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements development, use cases, and data flows.Experience integrating hardware and software.Experience with safety or flight-critical software development processes.Experience with automated test methodologies.Experience with networking protocols such as IP, UDP, or RTP.Experience with Vehicle Management System architectures.What You'll DoDevelop embedded software for vehicle management systems.Support requirements generation, system design, software design, implementation, integration, and flight test activities.Work as part of an Agile software development team.Support avionics services, ground station development, and mission systems software technologies as needed.Integrate software across live assets, simulated systems, laboratory environments, physical hardware, and system simulations.Use Agile software toolchains to support development, tracking, collaboration, and configuration management.Pay$30.00 - $125.00 per hourMilitary veterans and transitioning military members are encouraged to apply to all PGS Worldwide positions.
