Job Title: Assembler / Assembly Technician II

Job Description

This mid-level Assembler / Assembly Technician II role focuses on performing advanced mechanical and electronic assemblies in a production environment. You interpret manufacturing documents, execute quality-focused work, and handle both standard and complex assembly tasks, including rework and modifications. You work closely with engineers, technicians, and quality teams to ensure that assemblies meet specifications, documentation is accurate, and continuous improvement opportunities are identified.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret manufacturing plans, dimensional drawings, schematics, and work instructions to accurately complete assigned assembly tasks.
• Perform detailed touch-up work on components and assemblies to ensure consistent, high-quality finishes.
• Assemble, disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble experimental or prototype units as directed.
• Support testing activities on assemblies and prototype units by following established procedures and documenting results.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including inspection logs, process steps, and completion reports for all assigned work.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and quality personnel to troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues in a timely manner.
• Provide clear feedback on assembly process improvements and potential design enhancements to support continuous improvement.
• Follow work instructions, drawings, and blueprints to build wire harnesses, frame line assemblies, and square motors.
• Perform cable, wiring, and electronic assembly using appropriate tools and techniques, including soldering when required.
• Use hand tools and power tools such as torque drivers, electric low-power screwdrivers, and micrometers safely and effectively.
• Adhere to ISO 9001 or similar quality system requirements and contribute to maintaining a strong quality culture on the production floor.
• Perform all Assembly Technician I duties while taking on additional responsibilities related to rework, modifications, and more complex assemblies.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and quality procedures.
• Handle components and assemblies carefully to prevent damage and ensure consistent product quality.

Essential Skills

• At least 1–2 years of hands-on assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Proficiency in mechanical and electronic assembly, including cable and wiring assembly.
• Experience with soldering and electronic assembly processes.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing plans accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to perform work with minimal supervision and manage assigned tasks independently.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality system environments.
• At least 12 months of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with hand tools and basic assembly techniques.
• Ability to use torque drivers, electric low-power screwdrivers, micrometers, and other basic production tools.
• Comfort working with wire harness assembly and frame line building, including square motors.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed to perform assembly tasks.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while performing detailed work.
• Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to use hands, fingers, and tools in fine assembly processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a structured quality system environment such as ISO 9001.
• Exposure to production electronics environments and electronic components.
• Experience creating or updating basic documentation such as inspection logs and process steps.
• Experience with troubleshooting and resolving assembly issues in collaboration with engineering or quality teams.
• Experience working on experimental or prototype units, including rework and modification.
• Comfort providing feedback on process improvements and potential design enhancements.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work on a variety of assembly tasks, from standard builds to complex assemblies.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing and production environment focused on mechanical and electronic assemblies. You work with detailed work instructions, drawings, blueprints, and schematics to build and modify assemblies, including wire harnesses, frame line assemblies, and square motors. Daily work involves the use of tools such as torque drivers, electric low-power screwdrivers, micrometers, and other hand tools common in electronics and production settings. The position requires standing or sitting for extended periods while performing detailed, fine assembly work and lifting up to 25 pounds as needed. The environment operates under ISO 9001 or similar quality system standards, emphasizing documentation, inspection, and adherence to defined processes. You can expect a structured, safety-conscious production floor where collaboration with engineers, technicians, and quality personnel is part of the regular workflow.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morgan Hill, CA.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
